Wolfline bus system

In 2016, the NC State University transportation department was preparing to order a new fleet of buses for the Wolfline bus system. I worked to create an updated Wolfline logo and exterior design of the buses. I also consulted on the interior finishes.

The buses began circulation in the summer of 2017 and will continue to run for around ten years before the next major update.

The previous buses had become outdated, no longer matched NC State's brand strategy, and were often covered with athletics- or events-related wraps.

We started with a new design for both the wordmark and the wolf icon. The icon was simplified for better visibility across large and small applications, and the wordmark now uses Univers, NC State's brand font.

The exterior of the buses needed to be easy to repair in case of damage, match NC State's contemporary brand, and remain recognizable as the Wolfline. We worked with the vehicle manufacturer to provide technical diagrams for fabrication.

Once the buses began operating in 2017, the project was featured by the NC State College of Design and the Technician student newspaper.
